Britney Spears Is Seemingly Still Feuding With Lizzo

While being a guest on the Sibling Rivalry podcast on April 1, the singer of “Juice” discussed a tweet from 2021 in which she referred to Jackson as the “Queen of Pop,” which sparked controversy as most fans associate Madonna with that title, not Jackson.
Reflecting on the tweet, Lizzo mentioned that she faced criticism online but stood by her opinion, pointing out: “I called Janet Jackson the Queen of Pop for a reason. Britney Spears emulated Janet and openly admitted it.”
“Janet is her diva,” she continued. “There were no such things as pop divas before Janet.”

Lizzo Says There Were No Pop Divas Before Janet

Lizzo continued by highlighting Jackson’s historical presence in the industry, stating, “Janet preceded Madonna; she was a star when Madonna was still a child. Regardless of who is considered better, Janet was a trailblazer and the original. She created the blueprint,” while acknowledging Madonna as an influential figure in pop culture.
She explained that she “felt like I was just fighting for my life because people were dragging me by my ankles” over her past comments. However, this time it was fans of Britney Spears, not Madonna, who decided to call out Lizzo for her comments.

Britney Spears Just Wants To Be Left Alone

In an article published on May 9, an insider reportedly told Life & Stylethat Britney just wants “to be left alone” following Lizzo’s controversial comments.
“Britney is a huge fan of Janet, she’s always said she was a huge influence over her style and even her sound, but for Lizzo to say she was ‘doing an impression’ of Janet feels like a dig, because it implies that she didn’t have any originality,” the insider claimed.
The source said that Britney paid tribute to Jackson during several performances and always thought that she was “the deepest and brightest woman at the same time,” and someone she will “look up to for the rest of her life.”
It’s unclear how Britney stumbled upon Lizzo’s comments, but the “Toxic” singer doesn’t understand what she did that caused Lizzo’s “dig.”
