FORMER Utah congresswoman Mia Love has sadly passed away after battling glioblastoma brain cancer.
She leaves behind her husband, Jason, and their three children. Here’s what we know about him.

Who is Mia Love’s husband, Jason?
Ludmya “Mia” Love, a political figure and commentator, held the position of US representative for Utah’s 4th congressional district from 2015 to 2019.
Her election marked a historic moment, as she became the first Black person elected to Congress from Utah, the first Haitian-American in Congress, and the first Black Republican woman to serve in such a capacity.
On March 23, 2025, she died of cancer at her home at the age of 49, surrounded by her husband and children.
Mia met Jason Love, in Utah after converting to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1998.
Jason had served as an LDS missionary in Connecticut, and the two hit it off quickly.
Raised Catholic, Mia was drawn to the LDS faith and wanted to grow closer to it.
Just four months after their first date, Mia and Jason tied the knot in December 1998.
They first settled in American Fork, Utah, and later moved to Saratoga Springs.
Despite her election to Congress, Mia and her husband, Jason, chose for him to remain employed in the software industry and maintain their residence in Utah to provide stability for their family.
Speaking to Desert News in 2015, the software engineer said: “I was the only male in a room full of middle-age women.”
“It was fun,” he said.
“People would think it was awkward being the only man there, but it was enjoyable. They were very good to me.”
According to Jason’s LinkedIn profile, Jason has an MBA from the University of Utah.
Up until February 2025, he had served as Vice President of Product at Verisk Analytics, Inc., an American multinational data analytics and risk assessment firm.
In February 2022, Mia received heartbreaking news that she was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Doctors gave her a tough prognosis, saying she likely had just 10 to 15 months to live.

She underwent surgery soon after, and they were able to remove about 95% of the tumor.
By August 2023, Mia had joined an immunotherapy clinical trial, and the tumor had actually started to shrink.
However, on March 1, 2025, Mia’s daughter announced on social media that the treatments were no longer effective against the tumor, and the family was moving “from treatment to enjoying [their] remaining time with her.”
Does Mia and Jason Love have children?
The Loves have three children — Alessa, Abi, and Peyton.
Alessa is following in her dad’s footsteps by studying engineering at Utah State University, and her sister Abigale is also a student there.

Alessa’s now married to Lincoln Archibald, an investor and the founder of Fund Launch Partners.
The couple have a child together, Mera, making Mia a grandmother.
Following the sad news, Alessa wrote on Instagram: “My mother, my hero, my best friend.
“There are no words to describe the loss that aches within our hearts. She was the light in every tunnel, the laughter in our home, and the safety we could always run to.
“Not a day went by where we questioned if we were loved. My daughter will never go a day questing if her Ima loved her.”

Her family had announced that she passed away “peacefully in her home surrounded by family” on X.
The family said in a statement: “With grateful hearts filled to overflowing for the profound influence of Mia on our lives, we want you to know that she passed away peacefully today.
“She was in her home surrounded by family.
“In the midst of a celebration of her life and an avalanche of happy memories, Mia quietly slipped the bands of mortality and, as her words and vision always did, soared heavenward.
“We are thankful for the many good wishes, prayers and condolences.
“We are taking some time as a family and will provide information about funeral services and a public celebration of her life in the days to come.”
