Easter Sunday is a significant day for Christians worldwide. It symbolizes hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. With Easter approaching, Nancy Grace and her team delve into the details surrounding Jesus’ crucifixion, resurrection, and the historical proof validating these events.
Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem during Passover, now recognized as Palm Sunday, is often referred to as His “Triumphal Entry.” The streets were lined with people laying down their cloaks and waving palm branches, shouting “Hosanna” as they welcomed Him as their King. However, religious leaders and Roman officials saw Him as a potential political threat, concerned that He might rally the masses and incite rebellion.
Jesus was arrested on charges of sedition late in the evening following the Passover supper. He was brought before the Sanhedrin, accused of blasphemy and declaring Himself the King of the Jews. They found Him guilty and sentenced Him to death by crucifixion.
Historical sources outside the Bible mention Jesus’ death and document events that coincided with His crucifixion. Jewish historian Flavius Josephus and Roman historian Tacitus both confirmed Jesus’ existence and His execution under Pontius Pilate.
