A physician’s wife in Hawaii is fighting back after her husband allegedly tried to kill her.
Arielle Konig, aged 36, was successful in obtaining a temporary restraining order against her spouse, Dr. Gerhardt Konig from Maui. This was in response to an alleged attempt made by him to end her life near a cliff on Oahu.
According to the details in the petition accessed by CrimeOnline, Arielle recounted the harrowing experience where she stated that her husband forcefully moved her toward the edge of the cliff, made an effort to inject her with an unfamiliar substance using a syringe, and repeatedly struck her head with a rock.
She revealed that the situation escalated when her husband became furious after she expressed discomfort with his suggestion to take a selfie at the edge of the cliff. He angrily instructed her to move away, expressing his frustration by saying, “Go back over there, I’m so tired of you.”
“I quickly realized he was seriously trying to make me fall off the cliff,” she wrote in the petition.
Also in the petition, Arielle alleged Gerhardt sexually abused her for months before the incident. She did not give a specific time frame for the alleged abuse but noted a significant change in their lives in December, and that he began accusing her of having an affair.
Arielle Konig secured a 180-day restraining order. The presiding judge ruled that there is probable cause to believe past acts of abuse have occurred or that threats of abuse suggest imminent acts by Gerhardt Konig.
The court also noted that Gerhardt either owns, intends to obtain, or possesses a firearm or electric gun (such as a stun gun or Taser), which could be used to threaten, injure, or abuse someone.
Meanwhile, police detained Gerhardt, who fled the scene following the attack, and charged him with attempted murder on the same day, People Magazine reports.
He remains behind bars on a $5 million bond. Check back for updates.
