Connecticut police said a man killed his girlfriend and his 2-year-old son on Saturday, shortly before their bodies were discovered.
Hailey Miller, 19, and the toddler were discovered deceased in a New Haven apartment after screams were heard, prompting a 911 call. Witnesses reported seeing a man leap through a second-story window, as per the New Haven Register.
Miller and the unnamed toddler passed away on the premises. Jevon Fletcher, 26, the injured suspect, was apprehended by officers outside the apartment, as reported by the New Haven Register.
WNTH disclosed that Fletcher is the father of the deceased toddler. Notably, the toddler was not related to Miller, who had a separate child that was not present during the tragic incident.
Reports indicated that Fletcher received a six-month suspended sentence last February for breaching the peace involving a different victim.
Fletcher was released from the hospital on Tuesday. He is charged with murder, murder with special circumstances, and risk of injury. His bond is set at $3 million.
