Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as a man fights for his life in hospital following a serious crash in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police have issued a statement this morning, Saturday, December 2, as they piece together the circumstances surrounding the crash which shut the Parkway in Sheffield for over eight hours. Read further updates on this story here.

Four people – including a two-year-old boy – were rushed to hospital following the two-car smash at 11.53am on the main city route. It involved a blue Mazda CX-5 and a black BMW 330 3 Series on the dual carriageway, near the junction for Parkway Market.

A 38-year-old man has suffered life-threatening injuries and a 67-year-old woman has suffered serious injuries. A 36-year-old woman has suffered minor injuries while a two-year-old boy injured his lip. He was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital for treatment and his injuries are described as “not life threatening or life changing”.

South Yorkshire Police officers and Yorkshire Air Ambulance raced to the scene and the road was shut in both directions directions between the junction at Prince of Wales Road and Derek Dooley Way.

Today, the force are urging anyone who saw the crash or who has dashcam footage to come forward. In a statement, they said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with information or dashcam footage that could assist our officers with their enquiries is being asked to contact us on 101 or via our online portal.

“Were you driving past and have dashcam footage that could help officers in their investigation?”
