Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos‘ daughter has got them covered when they get older.
On Live with Kelly and Mark on Thursday, Consuelos, who shares children Michael (27), Lola (23) and Joaquin (21) with Ripa, read that “middle children grow up to be better people,” prompting Ripa to tease that their middle child Lola has “been telling [them] that for years.”
Consuelos continued, highlighting that the middle child “beat[s] out the sibling rivals in two crucial categories.”
“Nobody takes it on the chin more perhaps than the middle child,” he read. “There’s that middle child syndrome that we all have heard of.”
He also read that “middle children wind up more honest, humble, and agreeable than their siblings.” While Consuelos concluded “that’s maybe true,” Ripa replied, “Some of it.”
Citing the “HEXACO Personality Inventory,” which examines honesty, humility, emotional extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience, Ripa agreed that their daughter Lola is “all of those.”
Consuelos added, “We have a fantastic middle child. She will be taking care of us.”
Ripa echoed, “She is going to definitely take care of us. She’s our hope for —”
“Yeah, not putting us in a home,” Consuelos said.
However, Ripa clarified that their daughter “wants to put [them] in a home,” but a “really nice one.”
Consuelos elaborated, “The one in London next door to her.”
Ripa explained that their daughter lives next to “a retirement home for the elderly,” one she described as “very swanky” and “very gorgeous.”
“And every morning, she sends us a video of her walking by the home. She’s like, ‘Mom and Dad, look where I am, your future residence,’” she teased. “But it does look nice.”
Ultimately, Consuelos and Ripa agreed that they would be open to the “fancy” residence.
“As a New Yorker, I have no problem with that set-up,” Ripa quipped. “Whatsoever.”
