A major Yorkshire road has been shut by police following a serious crash.
North Yorkshire Police have shut the A170 between Thornton-le-Dale and Brompton-by-Sawdon. The road closure is near Snainton in the Pickering and Scarborough area.
Police say the crash happened at around 2.30pm and all three emergency services are currently on scene. The road will remain shut for several hours, according to the force.

Drivers are currently being told to avoid the area. Anyone with any information on the crash should get in touch with police quoting incident number 255 of December 3.
