The shooting reportedly happened in the cafeteria.

In the Nashville area, a tragic event unfolded at Antioch High School, where a student opened fire, resulting in the death of one student and injuries to another before taking his own life, as confirmed by emergency officials.

The shooter, a 17-year-old, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. One female victim succumbed to her injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, while another victim is in stable condition after sustaining a grazing bullet wound to her arm.

Police have not identified the shooter or victims as of their 2 p.m. press conference.

The shooting happened in the cafeteria, according to WSMV. Metro Nashville PD said the shooter shot two students and then shot himself.

MNPD said there is a reunification site for parents and their children. Metro Nashville Public Schools said students will be taken to Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital (3754 Murfreesboro Pike) by bus including car riders.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation sent HELP trucks to assist with traffic control in response to the shooting.

Metro Nashville Public Schools provided the following statement:

Families and community: Antioch High School is on a lockdown due to shots being fired inside the school building. Metro Police are on the scene. The person responsible for shooting is no longer a threat. We will be gathering students in the auditorium and will provide information on reunification as soon as possible.

This is an active crime scene and investigation. We will work with the MNPD to provide further updates as they become available.
