It is a common theme in elite sports now for more tournaments and matches to be created for the consumer, which is often to the detriment of the players who are being asked to perform on a very frequent basis.
Luka Doncic has been the latest star to speak out about the number of games in the NBA and specifically the tough schedule that the Dallas Mavericks have been handed by the powers that be.
Unusually, the Mavs have got back-to-back games against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Sacramento Kings.
The Mavs faced and lost to the Bucks on Saturday at Fiserv Forum, with Giannis Antetokounmpo and co. edging Dallas 43-27 in the fourth quarter to take the 132-125 win.
They have less than 24 hours before they are then in action against the Kings.
Doncic wants someone to speak to the NBA
When asked about the rather brutal schedule, Doncic half-jokingly told reporters (via Brad Townsend of Dallas Morning News): “Can you guys call the NBA about that?”
Clearly Doncic is not very happy about the situation but he did not as far as to unleash a tirade against the NBA.
Talking about the recent loss against the Bucks, Doncic chose to take a very positive view of the situation.
“It was actually fun. I mean, obviously not the result. It was fun, I think for people to watch. A couple of guys who are really good, going against each other. So I think it was fun,” Doncic shared.
