Canton police: Suspect arrested, victim hospitalized after gas station shooting

The suspect, Markalow Richardson, was arrested during a traffic stop on Sunday morning.

At a gas station in Canton, Ohio, a shooting incident occurred, leaving the victim in critical condition. Police have made an arrest in connection to the shooting.

At approximately 11:35 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, Canton police responded to reports of a shooting at the Circle K on Mahoning Road NE.

The victim, 37-year-old Devone Spencer, was found by officers with gunshot wounds to his arm, neck, and face. Spencer was taken to Aultman Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

The Canton police apprehended the suspect, 29-year-old Markalow Richardson, at 11:40 a.m. on Sunday during a traffic stop on Navarre Road SW.

An investigation is ongoing. Canton police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Canton Police Detective Bureau at 330-489-3144.
