Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James finished Friday night’s road match against the Portland Trail Blazers with a game-high 35 points on 5-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc to remain unbeaten in the 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament.
James, 38, carried the Lakers to a dominant 107-95 victory in 35 minutes of action, adding five rebouds, nine assists and two steals. He shot an overall 13-for-22 from the field.
Lakers big man Anthony Davis struggled offensively, but racked up 14 rebounds, three steals and five blocks. He scored just 16 points on 19 shots.
D’Angelo Russell (14) and Taurean Prince (10) were the other two Lakers starters in double-digit scoring, while Christian Wood tallied 10 points off the bench.
Trail Blazers need time to gel
The young Trail Blazers put up a valiant effort and seemingly just need to gel for their 3-9 record to improve later on in the season.
Jerami Grant scored a team-high 24 points, but every starter had double-figures in scoring, including Deandre Ayton and Shaedon Sharpe with 17 apiece.
Lakers (7-6) bounced back from their first home loss of the season to the Sacramento Kings and look to get revenge on the Houston Rockets on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena.
