Identification of Derrell Givens as one of the two victims in fatal shooting in Edgewater, Chicago’s 6300-block of North Broadway according to officials

CHICAGO (WLS) — One of two men killed in a North Side shooting early Saturday morning has been identified, officials said on Sunday.

According to Chicago police, officers were called to the 6300-block of North Broadway in the Edgewater neighborhood around 1:20 a.m. Saturday in response to a shooting.

Responding officers found three men who had been shot.

A 28-year-old man, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the body, was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified him as Derrell A. Givens.

The victim, a 31-year-old man, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Weiss Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Authorities have not yet released his identity.

Another man, 36, was shot in the back and transported to Evanston Hospital, where he is listed in fair condition.

CPD said a summary closure was issued on Sunday for a business located in the block where the shooting happened.

Police did not immediately provide further information about the shooting.
