May 6 primary election in Ohio: Follow live updates

The polls are open throughout Ohio from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. for Tuesday’s primary election.

The primary election in Ohio is taking place today on May 6th, and we will be providing you with all the essential information as voters head to the polls to make decisions on various school levies, statewide Issue 2, and Issue 18 related to the Akron-Summit County Public Library.

6:30 a.m. The polls are now open for the primary election. You have 13 hours to vote before the polls close tonight at 7:30 p.m.

5 a.m. It’s Election Day! The polls are set to open in just an hour and a half at 6:30 a.m. and will remain accessible until 7:30 p.m. Keep in mind that you can still cast your vote if you are in line before the polling stations close at 7:30 p.m.

4:45 a.m. Some voters will find Issue 18 on their ballot, but what’s it all about? The Akron-Summit County Public Library is the focus of this issue, which is a 1-mill capital levy that would generate $160 million for the library system over the course of 20 years. If passed, this would raise taxes for homeowners annually by $35 for each $100,000 of appraised value. You can read more about Issue 18 and what it means for you HERE.
