A highly anticipated fight for UFC fans is Dustin Poirier vs. Michael Chandler and this one could happen for UFC 281 next November 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting was the one who confirmed the fight, however, no one from the UFC organization has made the bout official.

Poirier vs. Chandler rivalry

As UFC 276 promoted 12 fights insidethe octagon, a fight in the elite light-heavyweight division nearly erupted outside the grid at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Fighters Dustin Poirier, ranked #2, and Michael Chandler, ranked #5, got into a fierce argument and almost went toe-to-toe.

The fight was caught by Brazilian fighter Gilbert “Durinho” Burns, Chandler’s training partner, in the VIP area of UFC 276.

In the video posted by the athlete on social networks, the audio is virtually unintelligible, but Poirier seems quite upset.

Surrounded by many people, including UFC chief operating officer Hunter Campbell and the company’s middleweight champion Jiri Prochazka, Poirier points heavily at Chandler, calls him a “fake” and threatens to beat him up. The two are restrained by security guards and Chandler is taken to another location.

The reason for the argument is still unknown. Although both have expressed interest in a fight between them, nothing has been married or announced by the UFC. Poirier has not fought since last December, when he lost to Charles do Bronx in the lightweight belt bout.

Chandler also lost to the Brazilian in May 2021, but has since lost to Justin Gaethje in November and beat Tony Ferguson in May.
