New England Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson has been listed as questionable to play in Sunday’s season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles at Gilette Stadium after missing Friday’s practice session due to a stomach bug.
Stevenson, 25, is still expected to play Sunday, according to multiple sources. Should he not be available, however, veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott is not a good option for fantasy football owners.
Ezekiel Elliott’s reversible iced out chain has a hidden message
Elliott, 28, joined New England in free agency this offseason on a one-year, $3 million contract. He finished the previous season with 876 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 14 starts.
Seven of his 12 rushing TDs were scored from the one-yard line and 10 more within six yards of the end zone.
Elliott was once considered the best RB in the league, but now it looks as if he’s running on sand.
Ezekiel Elliott will steald TDs from Rhamondre Stevenson
Stevenson could also suffer from the addition of Elliott, especially considering how last season he was one of New England’s only high points.
Elliott is the team’s RB2 and has the full support of head coach Bill Belichick, which could mean he scores the TDs after Stevenson does all the work.
Week 1 will reveal plenty about how Belichick intends to use his running back duo, especially against a tough Eagles defense.
Belichick, 71, could also come out looking even more like a genius if Elliott does have a bounce-back season.
