Sabrina Carpenter‘s most recent stop on her “Short n’ Sweet” Tour has her facing backlash once again for acting out another sex position.

This time, the pop star appeared to simulate a sex act midway through her performance that would typically involve a woman instead of a guy.

Several social media users have labeled the act “inappropriate,” with some also accusing Sabrina Carpenter of being “desperate for attention.”

Within the middle of her performance, the singer, wearing a shiny, sleeveless two-piece outfit, knelt down and executed facial and mouth movements that seemed to mimic a sexual act, with both hands raised in a grabbing motion.

Several of her followers have referred to Carpenter’s recent stance as “motorboating,” which involves putting one’s face between someone’s breasts and shaking it while producing a noise comparable to a motorboat.

After simulating the new position, the singer burst out in laughter before picking up the microphone to continue her performance.

The act is one of many provocative positions she has showcased during her ongoing tour, each one as explicit as the last.

But, unsurprisingly, social media users once again took offense at the singer for continuing to simulate explicit acts in her shows.

She was described as “desperate for attention” and “trashier by the day,” while several others slammed the act as “gross” and “disgusting.”

Several other users insinuated that Carpenter resorted to these acts because her music alone wasn’t giving her enough attention.

“I believe she seeks attention due to the fact that her music is not up to par,” a commenter remarked, while another stated, “She is excessively praised because her music is terrible. That’s all.”

Someone else commented, “Ever actually heard her sing(not lip sync)live? If you have, you would understand why she resorts to provocative acts. She’s horrible.”

The singer was also criticized for “misleading” young girls and adolescents who attended her shows.

“@SabrinaAnnLynn, little kids go to your shows, you are so not a role model,” a user said.

One more person remarked, “It is clear she is being exploited to mislead young girls. This is what selling your soul looks like.”

Industry insiders have previously suggested that Sabrina Carpenter’s provocative image has been a major driving force behind her rapid rise to fame, especially after years of struggling to gain traction in the music industry.

An insider once told the Daily Mail that Carpenter “didn’t connect with a mass audience, and drastic changes needed to be made.”

The changes reportedly came after the singer’s move to Island Records in 2021, where she is now being managed by people who pushed her to move away from her “everyday image” and revamp herself into a “sexpot.”

However, the switch reportedly didn’t come easy for Carpenter, who had grown accustomed to the “wholesome image” she cultivated during her time at Disney.

“It made her very uncomfortable as behind closed doors she wears sweats, little make up, and likes to stay home and watch Netflix,” the insider shared.

With time, the “Please Please Please” crooner adapted to the new image and has seemingly exceeded the expectations set for her.

According to a different insider, it was all because Carpenter was ready to do everything to push up her stock in the music industry.

“Sabrina knows she has to just let go and accept that she will have to become a commercial product to establish herself,” the source told the news outlet.

They added, “It is no different to what Britney, Gaga, or Katy Perry did. They know what will sell, and she will do that until she is at a place where she is able to call the shots.”

Another insider added that Carpenter’s success wasn’t just about her new image; it also came down to her raw talent and working with high-caliber producers who crafted hit songs that resonated with fans.

“Producers actually gave her good music, and now she is more adult, more sexed up,” said the source.

“[But] if the talent wasn’t there, she’d be forgotten, but she is now a bonafide pop star who is also being considered for roles in major movies,” they added.
