Just a month before the start of his trial, Sean “Diddy” Combs faces a third indictment.
The new filing introduces two new charges: sex trafficking through force, fraud, or coercion, and transporting individuals for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. These additional accusations revolve around “Victim-2,” who prosecutors claim was recruited, sheltered, and transported by Combs to partake in coerced commercial sex activities from 2021 to 2024. If found guilty, these charges could lead to an extended period of incarceration.
Combs denies the allegations and enters a plea of not guilty. His legal team asserts that the accusations are not fresh and involve the same individuals who were his former long-term partners. According to them, these partners engaged in consensual intimate relationships with Combs. He contends that the encounters, referred to by prosecutors as “Freak Offs,” were decisions made mutually by romantic partners to involve others in their relationship. Combs argues that the videos that prosecutors intend to present as evidence will demonstrate that all parties willingly participated.
Prosecutors reveal that “Victim-1,” also known as Cassie Ventura, intends to testify using her real name. They have requested Judge Arun Subramanian to permit the anonymity of witnesses 2, 3, and 4. Their argument is based on the potential consequences of disclosing the witnesses’ identities, which could include severe embarrassment, anxiety, social stigma, and media scrutiny. The witnesses are also worried that their testimony could impact their personal relationships and future career opportunities.
