Former President Donald Trump and former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley pulled big-name endorsements ahead of the Iowa caucuses on Monday.

North Dakota Republican Governor Doug Burgum announced his endorsement of Trump during the former president’s rally in Indianola, Iowa, on Sunday. Burgum dropped out of the presidential race last month, Blaze News previously reported.

Burgum participated in the first two Republican presidential primary debates but did not meet the Republican National Committee’s polling and donor thresholds to participate in the remaining debates. He slammed the “RNC’s clubhouse debate requirements” for “nationalizing the primary process.”

Appearing on stage with Trump on Sunday, Burgum said, “I’m here to do something that none of the other presidential primary candidates have done, and that’s endorse Donald J. Trump for the president of the United States of America.”

“I’ve had an opportunity to have a front-row seat,” he added. “I’ve seen President Trump and what he’s been able to do. I’ve seen it as a business leader and I’ve seen it as a governor. I’ve seen the difference that President Trump can make.”

Another former rival, Republican Senator Marco Rubio from Florida, also threw his support behind Trump instead of Ron DeSantis (R), the governor of his home state.

In a post on X, Rubio wrote, “When Trump was in [the White House] I achieved major policies I had worked on for years (like expanded Child Tax Credit & tough sanctions on regime in Cuba & Venezuela) because we had a President who didn’t cave to special interests or let bureaucrats block us.”

“I support Trump because that kind of leadership is the ONLY way we will get the extraordinary actions needed to fix the disaster Biden has created,” Rubio continued. “It’s time to get on with the work of beating Biden & saving America!”

Politico reported that DeSantis reacted to Rubio’s endorsement of Trump by stating the former president is “the party of Washington, D.C., establishment.”

“They have lined up behind him,” he added. “I am the candidate that would be a change agent in Washington, D.C. And I like that contrast.”

Last November, Republican Senator Rick Scott from Florida endorsed Trump as well. In a statement to NBC News, Scott said, “When you look at what is going on in the world today, this would not be happening if [Trump] was the president.”

“I think we all should come together and do everything we can to help him win the nomination so we can beat Biden,” he remarked.

Former Maryland Republican Governor Larry Hogan, an outspoken critic of Trump, announced his endorsement of Haley on Sunday.

Hogan told CNN’s “State of the Union” that it is “pretty clear” that Trump is the front-runner in Iowa, but Haley “has all of the momentum.”

“What this race is all about is to try to nominate the strongest possible nominee for November,” he stated. “Polls show that that is Nikki Haley. That she’s 17 points ahead of Joe Biden. And it is a toss-up with Trump and Biden.”

“Yes, it is time for the party to get behind Nikki Haley,” Hogan declared.

Republican Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa has declined to endorse anyone despite nearly all candidates reaching out to her for her support, she told NBC News. Ernst noted that she has not ruled out endorsing Trump but added that Haley is also a “great candidate.”

“If you look at the issues that are top of mind for Iowa Republicans, they are the economy, they’ve suffered under President Biden; it is the southern border and the flow of illegal migrants into the United States. But overall, if you look at national security, protecting our borders, and pushing back against our adversaries worldwide, Nikki Haley does have the experience there, and she’s really spoke to that to the Iowa voters. So that may be one of the tipping points that resonate with so many different voters,” Ernst stated.

“We’ll see who comes out the winner here in the Iowa caucuses. We’ll know that tomorrow night, and then we’ll know how to move forward,” she added.
