Kate Beckinsale announced the heartbreaking loss of her stepfather, Roy Battersby, who died after a brief illness. He was 87.

The “Serendipity” star shared a screenshot of the famed British TV director’s obituary on her Instagram Story Monday, revealing he “passed away peacefully” in Los Angeles on Jan. 10 “surrounded by family.”

Beckinsale also posted a tribute video made by a fan account that showed Battersby recalling how he celebrated Victory in Europe Day in 1945.

“I have no words yet . Thank you @katebeckinsale_slovakia2 for making this beautiful thing,” she captioned the tribute.

“I fought for you with everything I had. Oh Roy I am so sorry I lost.”

The “Underworld” star, 50, sparked concern among fans earlier this month when she rushed to a hospital from the 2024 Golden Globe Awards while still wearing her gown.

Sitting next to a hospital bed, Beckinsale showed herself keeping a then-unknown patient company with other members of her family on social media.

Days later, the “Pearl Harbor” actress shared a photo of a black square on her Instagram page, prompting fans to believe Battersby had died.

“I’m so, so sorry. Roy was such a beautiful soul who I had the absolute pleasure of meeting and chatting with. It truly was a privilege to meet such a great man. Sending all my love to you all ❤️,” commented one fan at the time.

“My sincerest condolences to you and your family, Kate 💔 My heart breaks for you at this time,” wrote another. “There truly are no words that can take the pain away.”

In December, Beckinsale urged fans to pray for Battersby as his health began to decline.

“I have no words,” Beckinsale wrote on Instagram. katebeckinsale/Instagram

“We need a miracle,” she wrote. “This week has taken an even scarier turn involving the health of my beloved stepdad, Roy, and we need every tiny scrap of love and magic in the hope he pulls through.”

She added that if people “would be kind enough to send healing energy his way, I’d be so grateful,” writing, “I’d never forgive myself if I didn’t try every single thing and then would wonder for the rest of my life if that would have helped.”

Battersby, whose projects included “Between the Lines” and “Red Mercury,” married Beckinsale’s mother, Judy Loe, in 1997. Loe’s first husband and Kate’s father, Richard Beckinsale, died in 1979 from a heart attack.
