Where to Vote in Early Elections for US House and Florida Legislature Special Elections

    Residents in five Central Florida counties have the opportunity to cast their votes early for upcoming special elections set for April 1. These elections include a congressional seat, as well as positions in the Florida Senate and House.

    The cascade of down-ballot special elections is a byproduct of President Trump picking a Central Florida congressman to join his cabinet.

    Specifically, residents residing in U.S. House District 6 will be participating in the election to select a successor for Mike Waltz, who has taken on a role in the Trump administration as the national security advisor.

    Moreover, in Brevard County, Republicans will be heading to the polls to nominate candidates in the primary elections for Florida Senate District 19 and Florida House District 32.

    Here’s what you need to know.

    U.S. House District 6 special election

    U.S. House District 6 includes parts of Volusia, Flagler, Lake, and Marion counties.

    The race features Republican State Sen. Randy Fine and Democratic educator Josh Weil, who each won their parties’ primaries earlier this month. The winner of the April 1 special election will head to Washington.

    Not all voters in these four counties are eligible to participate. Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis urges residents to check their eligibility before heading to the polls.

    In Flagler County, you can find your polling precinct and more on the Flagler County Supervisor of Elections website. All voters in Flagler are eligible for this election.

    In Lake County, you can find polling precinct information on the Lake County Supervisor of Elections website. Voters in much of north Lake County are in CD-6.

    Marion County voters can find their polling precinct information on the Marion County Supervisor of Elections website. Voters in east Marion County are eligible to vote in this election.

    Volusia County voters can find their polling places on the Volusia County Supervisor of Elections website. Voters in the northern part of the county are eligible to vote in this election.

    Florida Senate District 19, House District 32 primaries

    In Brevard County, Republicans can now vote early in two party primaries for a seat in the Florida Senate and a seat in the Florida House.

    Florida Senate District 19 is the seat being vacated by Randy Fine, who is running in U.S. House District 6.

    Four Republicans are vying to be the party nominee to replace Fine in a special general election to be held on June 10. That triggered the primary happening on April 1.

    The four candidates are:

    The winner of this primary will face Democrat Vance Ahrens in the June 10 general election, which is open to all voters in the district, regardless of party affiliation.

    Mayfield’s decision to run for Florida Senate means someone now needs to be elected to fill her Florida House District 32 seat.

    Three Republicans are running in the party primary on April 1. They are:

    • Bob White, chair of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Florida

    The winner will face Democrat Juan Hinojosa in the June 10 general election, which is open to all voters in the district, regardless of party affiliation.

    Early voting in Brevard County takes place through March 29. Polling places are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the week and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends.
