Early Life and Education

Reed was born on 1 May 1980, in Rayne, Louisiana. He attended Rayne High School and played high school football for the Rayne Mighty Wolves. He then attended Louisiana State University. He was selected in the 2nd round of the 2002 NFL draft.

Rise to Fame

Reed attended Louisiana State University and played for coach Gerry DiNardo and coach Nick Saban’s LSU Tigers football team from 1998 to 2001. While at LSU, he was one of the most productive receivers in college football.

Buffalo Bills

Josh Reed was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the second round (36th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft. In 2003, Reed replaced Peerless Price as the Bills’ starting wide receiver. He caught 58 passes and two touchdowns.

Josh Reed was hospitalized for two days in November 2006 after bruising his kidney. He caught 311 passes for 3,575 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Bills. He became an unrestricted free agent following the 2009 season.

The Oakland Raiders did not play first-round running back Josh Jacobs in their opening preseason game. But in Oakland’s second preseason contest, Raiders coach Jon Gruden put the rookie from Alabama right to work against the Arizona Cardinals.

The first three snaps of the game were handoffs to Jacobs for runs between the tackles. Josh Reed gained 6, 8, and 6 yards. After a pass completion, Jacobs had a 1-yard run. On the next play, the Raiders scored a touchdown, and Jacobs’ first pro outing was over.

I’ve played with a lot of good backs. Watching his vision was really impressive because I have the best seat in the house. I’m sitting back there playing Madden tell him to cut back and trying to run for him. He’s right up there with those guys.
