Man dead, several in hospital after car and bus crash in Sydney’s north

A man is dead and several people are in hospital, including a four-year-old child, after a car and a bus crashed in Sydney’s Hills District on Tuesday evening.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Windsor Road and Sanctuary Drive in Rouse Hill just after 7pm.

Paramedics treated the 60-year-old male passenger of the silver Honda, but he died at the scene. Three other adults and a child were taken to Westmead Hospital with severe injuries.

The 40-year-old driver of the car was trapped in the car and extracted by a NSW Fire & Rescue hydraulic crew. He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with wounds to his chest and arms.

A 39-year-old woman sustained chest and abdominal injuries and a woman in her 60s suffered chest and pelvic injuries. All were in a serious condition, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.

A four-year-old child was also taken to Westmead in a stable condition after sustaining abdominal injuries.

The bus driver was uninjured but taken to Blacktown Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing. The bus wasn’t in service and no passengers were on board.

The Hills Police Area Command has set up a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist officers in the Crash Investigation Unit.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the deadly crash to contact Crime Stoppers.
