The M1 has been blocked after a lorry went up in flames.
The fire occurred near Wakefield, junction 39, at about 3.30pm today (October 14). National Highways has warned motorists of 45 minutes delays.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) is in attendance. A divesion has been put in place via the exit and entry slips.
National Highways issued the following statement, it said: “The M1 in West Yorkshire is closed within J39 near Wakefield due to a heavy goods vehicle fire. Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads. WYFRS are in attendance. Delays of at least 45 minutes on approach, please allow extra time for your journey.”
Traffic data site Inrix said: “M1 Northbound blocked, queueing traffic due to vehicle fire at J39 A636 Denby Dale Road (Wakefield / Durkar). Diversion – via the exit and entry slips.”
