A man was rescued from a river in Sheffield last night (Fri) after he was spotted on the wrong side of some railings before falling in.
Rutland Road near Kelham Island was closed after the man fell into the River Don. He travelled downstream and was then pulled to safety by fire crews.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene following a call just before 11pm.

The man was initially on the wrong side of some railings, which prompted a call to the emergency services. He then fell in and went downstream.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “Emergency services were called at 10.54pm last night (January 5) following a report of concern for the safety of a man on the wrong side of railings in Rutland Road, Sheffield.
“The man fell into the water and travelled a short distance downstream where he was safely removed from the water.
“A road closure was put in place with our officers providing support to assist South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and Yorkshire Ambulance Service who were also at the scene.
“The man was taken to hospital and the road was reopened.”
