Martin Lewis has shared three simple things to do to bring your phone bill down to as little as £3.50 as he claims everyone with a phone contract is being “ripped off”.
The Money Saving Expert appeared on our TV screens for another episode of his ITV hit show. Speaking to his studio audience and viewers at home he revealed how phone companies are raising bills above the rate of inflation.
He said: “Most of you watching this – you are being ripped off on your mobile bill. You need to take action to change it.”

Martin said the first step you should take is to find out whether you are free to leave your contract. Text “INFO” for free to 85075 to check if you are free to leave – as you could be one of more than 14million Brits who are out of contract. Next, use a cheap SIM comparison website to weigh up different deals. Lewis singled out TalkMobile, which offers 6GB and unlimited texts on a one-year contract for just £3.50 a month.
He also said that iD Mobile offers a whopping 100GB of data for £7 a month on a one-year tariff. Finally, take a quick step to keep your phone number after you switch contracts. Text PAC to 65075, which will send you a code which you can pass on to your new network. Lewis said that Brits should not worryabout getting weaker signal if they switch providers.
He said: “There are only four mobile networks in the UK. Every other company is piggy-backing.” You can use a price comparison site to find the cheapest tariff on the phone network you already use.
Martin later shared a success story from a viewer who previously used his top tips. Hannah said: “Thanks to you I’ve saved £750 on my mobile costs! I switched from £65 per month to a sim only deal which is going to cost around £30 for the whole year as I got the first 6 months at 99p a month!”
