Viewers were left ‘bored’ while watching tonight’s Coronation Street themed Deal or No Deal celebrity special, dubbing it the ‘worst episode they’ve ever watched’.

The show recently made a comeback after seven years off air, with Stephen Mulhern replacing long standing host, Noel Edmonds.

Coronation Street’s Simon Gregson, who has played Steve McDonald on the ITV show for 34 years, was at the forefront of the celeb special as he played to win £100,000 for his chosen charity, Proud and Loud Arts.

But viewers were left complaining that the show was “boring”, and urged the presenter and contestants to “stop the chatter” and get on with opening the boxes, with some even suggesting that the show could be condensed down into a twenty minute slot (from an hour-long episode) if they stopped talking so much in between rounds.

One viewer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “My mother just said ‘I think this is the worst episode I’ve ever watched’ so true, 90% yapping,” and another bored viewer wrote:

“This was always a pretty boring gameshow, and extending it to an hour has made it even more boring #DealOrNoDeal” whilst someone else said: “Deal or no deal could be done in 20 minutes if they just shut their traps and played on, always skip the parts on catch up when they yap.”

And they weren’t the only ones, as another frustrated viewer wrote: “It takes them forever to just pic a bloody number. I do love Simon Gregson though or I wouldn’t bother watching” and another said: “Stop the chatter and open the boxes!!” and “I wish they would get on with opening boxes it does my head in when they just talk and TALK.”

Despite the comments from viewers, Simon still managed to take home £15,300 for his chosen charity, as he was joined by cast members, family, friends and fellow I’m a Celeb campmate and Emmerdale actor Danny Armstrong for the celeb special of the classic game show.

But he could have taken home a much bigger sum, as after dealing on the Banker’s second to last offer, it was revealed that Simon had the £50,000 prize in his box all along.

The money Simon won will be donated to Proud and Loud Arts – a charity for people with learning disabilities which helps them to write, produce and perform theatre shows across the country. A cause close to his heart, as the charity was set up by his brother in law.
