Water company Yorkshire Water has a scheme to help people struggling with their water bills, Leeds Council has revealed.
The local authority put out a message on its social channels on Monday urging people struggling to keep their heads above water to check if they can receive up to £2,000 of support from the firm, which supplies all of West, South and North Yorkshire with the life giving liquid.

But if you’re eligible, you could get up to £2,000 support from Yorkshire Water, along with other bills help.
A Community Trust is a debt support scheme for Yorkshire Water customers who have arrears between £50 and £2,000 and who also have ‘at least one priority debt’.
Basically it means, if you owe money to Yorkshire Water and you also have debts for rent, mortgage, council tax, a HMRC tax return, gas or electricity, you could apply for help with your water bill.
There are also other help schemes such as WaterSure, which is a bill cap for customers with a meter, or who claim benefits or have a medical condition.
WaterSupport is also available to those with a ‘low household income’ and an annual water bill of over £350.
Water Direct is a debt scheme where the money you owe is taken directly out of your benefits.
