ANDERSON COOPER ON FATHER’S DAYS

The “Anderson Cooper 360°” anchor wrote on his Instagram post that Father’s Day used to be different for him growing up, especially after his dad passed away when he was ten years old.

Thinking of his dad was too painful, so Anderson would try to avoid acknowledging the celebration by pretending he’d forgotten what day it was or that it didn’t exist. He explained

“But today I celebrated Father’s Day, remembering my dad, Wyatt, with little Wyatt and Sebastian and their Papa, Benjamin. I can’t believe how lucky I am.”

MEET ANDERSON COOPER’S FIRST SON

Anderson’s children are the main reason his perception of Father’s Day changed. His eldest is Wyatt Morgan Cooper, named after Anderson’s late dad.

Wyatt’s middle name is also special because it is common in Gloria Vanderbilt’s family, Anderson’s late mother. The boy is growing up with his two dads: Anderson and his ex-partner Benjamin Maisani.

Anderson’s life could have been different had he accepted to date Andy Cohen.

The former couple began dating in 2009 and parted ways in 2018. Still, they decided to co-parent Wyatt because they are a big family.

Wyatt was born via surrogate on April 27, 2020, but Anderson announced the boy’s birth three days later on social media. He uploaded four pictures of the baby and wrote in the caption that he wished to be as good a dad as his father was.

Anderson pointed out that he grew up being gay and thinking he could never have a child because of it. He thanked the people who paved the way before him, the doctors and nurses involved in Wyatt’s birth, and the “remarkable” surrogate who carried his son.

MEET ANDERSON COOPER’S SECOND SON

On February 10, 2022, Wyatt became the big brother of Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. The boy was also born through surrogacy, and Anderson thanked Sebastian’s surrogate mother for the sacrifices and love she and her family shared with him.

Sebastian’s second father figure is also Benjamin, who Anderson described as his best friend and former partner. The CNN news anchor revealed his kids called him “daddy” while Benjamin went by “papa.”

Anderson’s life could have been pretty different had he accepted to date Andy Cohen in the early 1990s. A mutual friend set them up on a blind date, but it never happened.

After a brief phone call, Anderson realized he could never be romantically involved with Cohen because he broke one of Anderson’s cardinal rules for dating: he asked about Vanderbilt immediately. Cohen and Anderson are great friends, and their children often play together. What a lovely family!
