Tua Tagovailoa suffered another gruesome injury last Thursday between the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals, which has exposed the way the quarterback’s injury was handled. Although the trauma consultant has been fired by the NFLPA, this has already prompted the NFL to interview the quarterback to get his point of view.

Tua Tagovailoa was already coming off a previous injury

Four days before suffering a scary concussion on Thursday Night Football against the Bengals, Tagovailoa, had already when the Dolphins faced the Buffalo Bills, after he got hit, he stood up, shook his head, and stumbled after his head hit the field.

Tagovailoa was allowed to return to the game against Buffalo, a decision under heavy scrutiny after he was stretchered off Thursday. Tagovailoa’s head hit the ground hard on a hit by the Bengals’ Josh Tupou and the quarterback went into the “fencing” response, with his fingers flexed in an unnatural position.

An unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant was fired

Tagovailoa was cleared to return to the game against the Bills by a Dolphins team physician and an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant, and the team later said Tagovailoa had a back injury. The NFLPA fired the neurotrauma consultant on Saturday after the consultant was found to have made “several errors” in evaluating Tagovailoa, according to ESPN.

Tua Tagovailoa is to be interviewed about his injury

According to ESPN, the NFL and NFLPA investigation could continue for another week or two, and its findings will be announced that “almost immediately thereafter.” But, it is uncertain how much Tua can remember about the injury and the moments afterward.
