Jenna Bush Hager is recognized for her competitive nature, making it no surprise when she engaged in a spirited debate with her co-host Hoda Kotb from Today on various holiday-themed topics.
One such topic was whether people should buy a Christmas gift for a loved one off their wishlist or go “rogue” and pick one out for them.
The debate began with Kotb advocating for a more independent approach. She defended the idea of “going rogue” by comparing it to running an errand: “Here’s my list, go buy it for me and bring it to my house,” she explained. “It’s an errand wrapped in paper, allowing you to do your own thing. When you go to the store, think about your loved ones and go rogue!”
But Bush Hager went all out as she explained why you’re better off sticking to someone’s wishlist.
“The one time my Aunt Smith went rogue, she brought me some big olâ granny panties,” she announced. “I donât wear panties, everybody knows that!”
She continued, “I think you’ve got to buy people what they want.” Neither Kotb or Bush Hager could hold back their laughter during her ranting.
But, despite Bush Hager’s best efforts, Kotb still won that round.
“What?! I humiliated myself for that!” Bush Hager said. She then asked that they “go ahead and cut out that part.”
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Bush Hager has publicly stated that she does not regularly wear underwear. Her daughter even once revealed this fact during a live television appearance.
Mila, who was then nine years old, had already embarrassed her mom by announcing that she once “peed her pants” from laughing so hard in the living room.
Bush Hager then tried to guide her daughter off stage, telling Kotb, âI love her so much but itâs time for her to go because if sheâs already dropped one truth bomb, who knows whatâs coming here?â
But Kotb then began to dig for more information, to which Mila responded, âShe never wears underwear.â
She then added, âSheâs not wearing it right now! I saw her change,â as her mother embarrassedly tried to rush her off the stage.
Today with Hoda & Jenna airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
