After getting shot numerous times in Nevada just weeks after competing in the McDonald’s All-American Game, a women’s basketball star is recovering.
There happened a tragedy in Las Vegas On Saturday night. People gathered at the house party to have a good time. Unfortunately, a house party resulted in the shooting of four people, two adults and two minors.
The North Las Vegas Police Department confirmed the shocking news.
According to the police, the medical team transported the victims to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
One victim is said to be in critical condition after being shot numerous times in the lower body because the others are said to be in a stable position.
According to sources, Aaliyah Gayles, an 18-year-old point guard from Spring Valley High School in Las Vegas who recently committed to the University of Southern California, is one of the victims.
Gayles had two major surgeries on Sunday morning, according to the website.
In a statement to sources, Gayles’ strength was praised by USC women’s basketball head coach Lindsay Gottlieb.
“Aaliyah is one of the strongest, most resilient young people I have ever known,” Gottlieb stated.
“I have no doubt she will continue to face this unfathomable situation with courage and resolve,” she continued. “We will continue to support her and her parents in every way that we possibly can.”
Her father, Donald Gayles, tweeted that he thanked everyone for supporting his daughter in her tragic time and supported her.
“I know there is some that will say it’s my fault and I take full responsibility for it but please, please keep my baby girl in your prayers, Las Vegas,” he tweeted, sharing a childhood picture of his daughter.
“I will give everyone that supports Aaliyah an update but she’s ok she [going to] make it like always thank you all true warrior,” he continued.
Donald tweeted, saying that he eagerly wanted to have his daughter home.”I love you 3 just come back home to me baby girl I got you I promise,” he wrote.
