Who is Mayim Bialik?

The 46-year-old actress and current host of Jeopardy! told Entertainment Tonight that she would love to headline the popular game show full-time. The Big Bang Theory alum and Jeopardy for season 38, which is currently airing! Champion Ken Jennings will continue to divide hosting duties.

In September of last year, the Big Bang Theory star made her hosting debut on the US game show. Bialik will split hosting responsibilities with 2004 winner Ken Jennings until the end of season 38, according to the show’s official Twitter account, in December 2021.

“I would love that,” Bialik said at the Critics Awards Choice Sunday when asked if she’d be interested in the opportunity if it arose. “I like to say, I’ve lived season to season since I was about 13 years old. So, what I know is I’m hosting until May 6, and beyond that, hopefully, I’ll know more before May 6.”

Bialik also stated that being the first woman to host the legendary show full-time would be an honor.

“I think being a female is its own mark,” she stated. “My grandparents were immigrants to this country, and escaped programs, and World War II, so for me in two generations, be in a position to be a woman, and a host in that iconic role blows my mind.”

Alex Trebek hosted the show from its beginning in 1964 until he died in 2020 from pancreatic cancer.

While Bialik isn’t the first woman to host the show, she would be the first to do so permanently.

In an interview with Glamour when the current season premiered in September, the neuroscientist openly emphasized how much the chance meant. Mayim acknowledged that she has a busy schedule between her Fox sitcom Call Me Kat and her mental health podcast Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, but she still wants to be a part of Jeopardy!

“Having a full-time job [on Fox’s Call Me Kat] didn’t stop me from wanting it. But it was after those two days [of filming my guest host episodes] that I realized I had never wanted anything more than that job,” she told the outlet. “I’m not a person who leans deeply into intuition. I wish that I was. But this was a case where I intuitively felt something very special had happened for me in my life. From just those two days [taping episodes to air over two weeks]. I said to the crew, ‘I don’t want to leave. I really don’t want to leave.’”

She continued: “There’s no other job I would rather have. I love my sitcom work. I do. I love all the other things I do. I love the podcast. But I absolutely have never had a better job.”
