Who is her father Mike?

American former professional boxer Michael Gerard Tyson was born under the zodiac sign Cancer on 30 June 1966, in Brooklyn, New York City USA. He was an undisputed world heavyweight campion from 1987 through 1990, winning his first 19 professional bouts via knockout, 12 of which were in the first round; Mike was only 20 when he won his first belt.

He was raised alongside his older sister Denise (died aged 24 in February 1990) and older brother Rodney, in Brooklyn, by their mother Lorna Mae Smith who’s believed to have been a prostitute, and father Purcell Tyson who was a taxi driver; although Purcell’s listed as Mike’s father on legal documents, it’s believed that his actual father was American pimp Jimmy Kirkpatrick.

Mike and his family moved to Brownsville, New York City when he was 10, and he had a rather rough childhood as he often got into fights and was involved in petty crimes; by the time he turned 13, Mike had been arrested 38 times. He studied at the Tryon School for Boys and was there discovered by American professional boxer and coach Bobby Stewart, who trained Mike until introducing him to his future manager and trainer Constantine ‘Cus’ D’Amato; following the death of Mike’s mother when he was 16, Cus became his legal guardian.

Under Bobby’s guidance, Mike began to hone his skills, exhibiting extraordinary speed, power and aggression; his amateur career was brief but impactful, culminating in a gold medal at the 1981 Junior Olympic Games.

In 1985 at the age of 18, Mike turned professional under the guidance of legendary trainer Cus and manager Jimmy Jacobs. His professional debut marked the beginning of a meteoric rise through the ranks of the heavyweight division; with a string of quick knockout victories, Mike captured the attention of the boxing world, and earned the nickname ‘Iron Mike’.

In 1986, he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history, defeating Trevor Berbick to claim the World Boxing Council (WBC) title; his reign of dominance continued as he unified the heavyweight belts, becoming the undisputed champion of the world. Mike’s aggressive fighting style, combined with his intimidating aura made him one of the most feared and celebrated athletes of his time.

Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, his dominance inside the ring was unparalleled; he dispatched opponents with ruthless efficiency, often ending fights within the first few rounds.

Mike’s most memorable performances include his victories against Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Frank Bruno; his assault on the heavyweight division seemed unstoppable, and many believed that no boxer at that time was able to defeat him.

Despite his unprecedented success in the ring, Mike’s personal life was about to ruin his career. Outside of boxing, he grappled with issues of fame, fortune and relationships, and his turbulent marriage with actress Robin Givens drew intense media scrutiny, with allegations of domestic abuse and infidelity overshadowing his career.

In 1992, Mike was convicted of rape and sentenced to six years in prison, effectively derailing his boxing career and ruining his reputation; the incident sent shockwaves through the sports world, and raised questions about the moral character of one of boxing’s most iconic figures.

After having served three years of his sentence, Mike was released from prison and returned to the ring in 1995 with a renewed sense of purpose, seeking to reclaim his status as a boxing legend.

Mike’s comeback was met with mixed results as he struggled to recapture his peak form against a new generation of heavyweight contenders; despite moments of his former brilliance, including victories over Frank Bruno and Bruce Seldon, Tyson’s career was marked by inconsistency and controversy.

In retirement, Tyson’s pursuing various ventures outside of boxing, including acting, business and philanthropy. He has 66 acting ,, and is perhaps known best for portraying himself in the 2009 comedy movie “The Hangover”, directed by Todd Phillips, and which starred Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha and Bradley Cooper. It follows three friends who’ve awoken in Las Vegas, Nevada after a bachelor party without knowing what had happened the night before – the film won 13 of its 38 award nominations. Some of Mike’s most recent film roles have been in the thriller “Black Flies”, the music video “NLE Choppa; Champions”, and the comedy “Medellin”, all in 2023

He’s married thrice. He and his first wife Robin Givens exchanged vows on 7 February 1988, separated on 14 February 1989, with Robin later stating during one of her interviews that life with Mike was ‘torture, pure hell, worse than anything I could possibly imagine’. From 19 April 1997 through 14 January 2003, he was married to pediatric resident Monica Turner; they have two children together, but Monica divorced him because he had cheated on her. His marriage to Lakiha seems rather more stable.
