Ukrainian forces claimed that they have killed the top commander of the Russian tank regiment, Colonel Andrei Zakharov.
According to the reports, on March 10, the Commander of Russian tank regiment Andrei Zakharov was killed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Brovary area of the Kyiv region. It is claimed by the Ukrainian media that Colonel Andrei Zakharov was awarded the Order of Courage by Vladimir Putin in 2016.
On the northeastern outskirts of the capital, the footage showed a column of Russian tanks being fired in the town of Brovary. Also, huge explosions are noticed in a residential area of the town when several tanks are hit by projectiles.
It has not been independently verified about the death of Commander Andrei Zakharov.
It has been said by the Ukrainian troops that they forced the tanks to retreat during the ongoing invasion of Russian that has seen Vladimir Putin’s forces fail to capture Kyiv.
According to the Ukrainian Defence Intelligence quoted by Interfax-Ukraine news agency, due to the losses of personnel and equipment the Russian troops had to “move to the defense”. Also, it added that “In particular, the commander of the regiment, Colonel A Zakharov, was liquidated.
Ukrainian forces also claimed that they have killed at least 5 more Russian commanders since the invasion was started.
As of now, Mr. Putin’s forces are yet to capture Kyiv and have been failed in doing so, but still, they have continued their heavy bombardment into many cities and towns.
In a Twitter post by NEXTA, “Colonel Andrei Zakharov, commander of a #Russian tank regiment, was eliminated by the AFU in the Brovary district of #Kyiv region.
He received the Order of Courage from the hands of Vladimir Putin in 2016, #Ukrainian media reported”.
Russian leaders were warned by Mr. Zelensky that the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine will backfire and would make Russian citizens hate them.
Through a Twitter post, Mr. Zelensky said that “Mariupol. Direct strike of Russian troops at the maternity hospital. People, children are under the wreckage. Atrocity! How much longer will the world be an accomplice ignoring terror? Close the sky right now! Stop the killings! You have power but you seem to be losing humanity.” He further added that Russians would also feel the consequences of harsh economic sanctions which were imposed by the west on individuals and entities.
