Her second child, Peter had problems at birth; he was diagnosed with failing liver disease, medically known as biliary atresia. He was put on a list for a donor’s liver, but after a couple of weeks, the doctors still couldn’t find a perfect match for young Peter, so Catherine stepped up and donated a part of her liver to Peter.
