Curt Carpenter Wiki – Curt Carpenter Biography

Curt Carpenter was an Alabama man who believed COVID-19 was a “hoax” who died from the virus, and now his family is urging people to get vaccinated.

Carpenter lost his battle with the bug after spending 51 days in the intensive care unit at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, the Montgomery Advertiser.

Age

His was 28 years old.

Cause of death

After weeks of battling oxygen treatments, her 28-year-old son died in hospital two months after being diagnosed with Covid-19.

The Carpenters’ reluctance is not unique in a state with the lowest vaccination rates in the country. According to data from the Alabama Department of Public Health, only 33.9 percent of the state’s eligible population has been fully vaccinated and 41.6 percent have received at least one dose.

As cases begin to rise in the state, health officials are trying to increase confidence in the vaccine, but difficulties in implementation coupled with mistrust have become major obstacles.

“We found that there is a lot of mistrust with the messages that come from the state government, from public health, in particular, from the media,” said Scott Harris, executive director of the Alabama Department of Public Health. “It is just a multi-layered problem. There are many different people who have many different reasons for not getting the vaccine. And it’s hard to tackle them in a big way. ”

Family statement

Now, in Carpenter’s Alabama home, the room that belongs to Curt, their “beautiful baby” and firstborn, remains empty, a painful reminder of a life that could have been saved if the family had decided to get vaccinated, he said.

“We had to see my son die and I suffer the effects of the covid so that we realized that we need the vaccine,” said the mother. “We did not get vaccinated when we had the opportunity and now we regret it so much.”

While it will always be impossible for her to understand the reason for Curt’s passing, Carpenter said she is determined not to let her son’s death be futile.

“If Curt were here today, his mission would be to encourage everyone to get vaccinated,” Carpenter said. “Cayla, her sister and I are fulfilling that mission in her memory.”
