Ukraine mayor Olga Sukhenko was found buried in a shallow grave with her son and husband by Russian forces.
On March 23, Russian forces abducted Olga Sukhenko, a village mayor in Ukraine, along with her husband and son. They were killed and put in a grave later.
They were not found until Saturday, when their bodies were discovered in a shallow grave beneath houses that Russian soldiers had used as improvised barracks. Ukraine’s forces discovered four bodies, one of which has yet to be recognised. Russian military are killing civilians, demolishing homes, and destroying everything.
Russia has refused to target civilians, claiming that allegations of fatalities were made up to smear their reputation.
“There have been Russian occupiers here. They tortured and murdered the whole family of the village head,” said Anton Herashchenko, naming those killed as Olha Sukhenko, her husband Ihor Sukhenko and their son, Oleksandr.
“The occupiers suspected they were collaborating with our military, giving us locations of where to target our artillery.
“These scum tortured, slaughtered and killed the whole family. They will be responsible for this.”
However, these reports are not false, since a reporter witnessed the remains being burned in a forest near a farm west of Motyzhyn.
People’s hands were tied behind their backs, according to him, and their bodies had been burnt.
“The bodies are still lying there, we can’t get them out because there is a suspicion that they are mined,” he confirmed.
According to Ukrainian officials, there was speculation that around 410 people have died so far in Kyiv communities.
In Bucha, at least 300 people were massacred, and apart from that, 57 bodies were discovered in a mass grave.
“All of these victims were shot,” Bucha mayor Anatoly Fedoruk said in a statement, adding that 280 more remains had been dumped in mass graves throughout the city.
Kristina was stuck in her Bucha home for ten days while Russian soldiers were stationed in her courtyard. To preserve their lives, she hid with her three-year-old daughter.
She told the sources: “We are safe for now, but our psyche is blown, we have changed, nothing will be the same as before.
“We try to communicate normally, even joke around a bit, but when you close your eyes, you immediately see a road full of dead bodies, and how we froze with our hands raised, waiting for them to decide.”
She continued: “It’s a blessing we managed to get out. But my soul and thoughts are with Bucha and with all the hero-cities, with the people who are trapped, with the children who should not be involved in the war at all.”
