Wali, a Canadian soldier who served in Afghanistan with the Royal Canadian Infantry’s 22nd Regiment in Kandahar. The French-Canadian computer programmer earned the moniker Wali, which is taken from the Arabic term for guardian while serving in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2011. Following his service, he went to Iraq to assist Kurdish military troops in their fight against ISIS. He was in the same squad as the sniper with the highest distance kill record of 3,540 metres as part of the elite JTF-2 team. When Ukrainian President Zelenskyy called for foreigners to help the country’s fight against Russia, Wali, a veteran of the Royal Canadian 22nd Regiment, said he felt “like a firefighter who hears the alarm ringing.”
“I want to help them.” In a recent interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the soldier, who only offered his moniker “Wali,” stated,
“I have to help because there are people here being bombarded just because they want to be European and not Russian.”
When Wali arrived at the battle, he was received with warm arms by Ukrainians
“They were so happy to have us,” Wali stated. “It’s like we were friends right away.”
According to reports, Wali murdered six Russian soldiers shortly after arriving as part of the Canadian group on Wednesday.

‘If Putin really wants Kyiv, he is going to have to pay a huge price. Nobody wants the Russians here and everyone will resist. The damage we can do to them will be crazy. They will lose so many lives it will become another Stalingrad.’
Wali spent the day huddled in an abandoned building on the outskirts of Kyiv, overlooking the strategic site,’ as he calls it.
According to the latest estimates, Russia’s infantry has moved to within 15 kilometres of the closed metropolis of over three million residents, despite intense opposition and several humiliating failures.
‘This is a huge, built-up city, not some village. Looking out from where I am now, I can see so many structures and buildings to shoot from, so many places to hide weapons and launch ambushes from. They won’t know what has hit them,’ Wali vows.
‘The Russians have already failed to take Kharkiv and Mariupol, which are smaller cities. There is no way they can hold on to Kyiv. It will be better for everyone if they decide not to attack.’
