The Queen meets people from all walks of life in her day-to-day role as head of state, but did you know that she also keeps a close-knit group of friends too?
From her ladies-in-waiting to her personal dresser, Her Majesty has a number of confidantes in her inner circle, aside from her immediate family members.
The monarch, 95, has began attending public engagements in person again earlier this year after isolating during the pandemic at Windsor Castle.
In June 2021, she enjoyed the Royal Windsor Horse Show in the grounds of her Berkshire residence and was joined by Penelope Knatchbull, Countess Mountbatten of Burma.
Penny has always been one of the Queen and the late Duke of Edinburgh‘s closest companions, and was even one of 30 people to attend Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021.
