Beams penned the confronting letter to his twin demons – gambling and opioids – when he entered rehab several years ago.He posted the deeply personal, brave and honest letter on his social media prior to filming Big Brother VIP.He is supporting the Love Me, Love You Foundation during his time on the show.“Dear gambling and opioids,” the letter read as Beams directly addressed his nemesis.“I don’t even know where to start with you. Yes, I made the choice to abuse both of you, but you both let me and controlled me and I won’t have it anymore, you can get f–ked.“I won’t let you drain my accounts anymore and won’t let you put me in a position of owing people money. I will no longer let you control and dictate my mood.”Beams wrote that he never wanted to see another script for certain painkillers.“Nor do I want to see an online bookmaker offering me a great deal knowing they will take my money,” he wrote.“This is the end of the road for our relationship. I actually hate you and how you have made me feel and the pain you cause me now.“I’m not sad about leaving you because you are both pieces of s–t. “Yes, you make me angry but you know what? You also make me happy as I never want to see you again.”Beams said he shared the letter as it had been a powerful tool in helping him set goals during his rehab and hoped it would help others.In a Big Brother VIP Q&A he said he had come a long way in two years.“Two years ago, I was a massive fake, lying sort of person so that’s something I’ve cut out of my life,” he said.“Overcoming addiction was harder than anything that I did on a football field. I’m gonna show Australia just who the real Dayne Beams is.”
