Adam Driver had some very specific requests on his Christmas list for Santa Claus this year.
During his Saturday Night Live opening monologue, the Ferrari star decided to share his holiday wishes as he played piano.
“Hey, Santa! It’s me, Adam Driver from the nice list and also Girls,” the actor says. “I turned 40 this year, Santa, so I’d like five pairs of Chinos.”
Driver also had another wish regarding his time playing Kylo Ren in Star Wars and the one scene he can’t seem to live down. “I’d like people to stop coming up to me on the street saying, ‘You killed Han Solo,’” the actor says. “I didn’t kill Han Solo. Wokeness killed Han Solo.”
After thinking about what else he wanted for Christmas, Driver asks, “You know those TikToks where it’s like those couples who do pranks on each other? Can you kill those people?”
Earlier, during the cold open, SNL mocked the three university presidents who gave evasive answers at a congressional hearing on campus antisemitism this week.
University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill, who resigned Friday, as well as Harvard President Claudine Gay and MIT President Sally Kornbluth, were grilled by House representatives on how their institutions had responded to instances of antisemitism on campuses, the Associated Press reported. But their responses faced backlash from lawmakers as well as the White House, especially following a heated line of questioning from Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., who repeatedly asked whether “calling for the genocide of Jews” would violate each university’s code of conduct. Instead of giving direct answers, they said their school’s policies depended on context.
During the SNL sketch, the three college presidents continued to give vague answers as Stefanik, played by Chloe Troast, shouted at them: “Yes or no? Is calling for the genocide of Jews against the code of conduct for Harvard?”
“Well, it depends on the context,” Ego Nwodim’s Dr. Gray responded. Troast’s Stefanik angrily asks the “UPenn lady” for her answer.
“Well, we are serious about stopping all forms of hatred, antisemitism, Islamophobia,” Heidi Gardner’s Magill says.
Troast’s Stefanik also turns to the president of MIT with the same question, adding, “Keep in mind, if you don’t say yes, you are going to make me look good, which is really, really hard to do. So I will ask you straight up. Do you think genocide is bad?”
Chloe Fineman’s Kornbluth says in response, “Could I submit an answer in writing at a later date?”
Surprised by the answers, Troast’s Stefanik says, “Am I winning this hearing? Somebody pinch me!”
During the latest SNL episode, it was Driver’s fourth time hosting the sketch comedy show, while Olivia Rodrigo returned for the second time as the musical guest.
