Netflix Fills Out 'Black Rabbit' Cast Opposite Jason Bateman, Jude Law

Netflix‘s forthcoming drama Black Rabbit, starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law, is filling out its cast.

Oscar winner Troy Kotsur, Abbey Lee, Odessa Young and Robin De Jesus will have regular roles in the limited series, which comes from creators Zach Baylin and Kate Susman. Seven actors — Amir Malaklou, Don Harvey, Forrest Weber, Francis Benhamou, Gus Birney, John Ales and Steve Witting — will have recurring parts. They join the two stars and the previously cast Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Dagmara Dominczyk and Chris Coy.

Bateman and Law will play brothers in Black Rabbit. Law’s character, Jake, is the owner of a New York hotspot, and when he lets his turbulent brother (Bateman) back into his life, he opens the door to escalating dangers that that threaten everything he’s built.

Among those dangers, based on descriptions for some of the new cast members, is the criminal underworld. Kotsur (Coda) will play a bookie with ties to both organized crime and the brothers’ past. Coy also plays a bookie, while Weber’s character is described as a “hotheaded criminal.”

Lee (Lovecraft Country) will play a bartender, and Young (Max’s The Staircase) plays a tattoo artist with ties to the brothers. De Jesus (Tick, Tick … BOOM!) will play a talented chef. Malaklou (The Old Man) is set to play an investor in Jake’s businesses; Harvey (The Deuce) plays an old-school bartender; Benhamou will play a journalist; Birney (Shining Vale) will play an aspiring actress and hostess; and Ales (Euphoria) plays a renowned artist.

Black Rabbit, which Netflix greenlit in March, is the latest product of an overall film and TV deal Bateman and Michael Costigan’s Aggregate Films signed with the streamer in 2018. Aggregate’s Netflix output includes feature films Your Place or Mine and the upcoming Hit Man and the series Florida Man, among others.

Baylin and Susman will serve as showrunners on Black Rabbit and executive produce through their Youngblood Pictures company. Aggregate’s Bateman and Costigan also executivee produce along with Law and Ben Jackson for Riff Raff Entertainment, Andrew Hinderaker, Zac Frognowski, Justin Levy, David Bernon and Erica Kay.
