Sara Ramirez Won't Return to 'And Just Like That'

Che Diaz is moving out of And Just Like That.

Sara Ramirez, the star who has played the controversial character on Max’s Sex and the City offshoot for its first two seasons, will not return for the upcoming third season of the series. Sources caution that while scripts are still being written, there’s always a potential for Ramirez to pop in for an episode.

The internet has speculated for weeks that Ramirez, who previously played Grey’s Anatomy fan-favorite Callie Torres, would not be returning for AJLT’s upcoming season following a string of posts on their social media. A month ago, Ramirez shared a post in which they seemed to allege that AJLT introduced Che — the franchise’s first nonbinary character — as a way not to be inclusive but rather as “performative” lip service toward the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Ramirez, who most recently has also used their social accounts to express pro-Palestinian views and call for a ceasefire, was last seen as Che in the season 2 finale in which the character split from romantic partner Miranda (Cynthia Nixon).

Reps for Max declined comment.
