Tony Goldwyn Set for Major Boulder International Film Fest Award

Tony Goldwyn, the beloved actor and filmmaker who is perhaps best known for starring in the film Ghost and the TV series Scandal, will receive the Boulder International Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award on Friday in Boulder, Col., The Hollywood Reporter can exclusively report.

The entire evening — which kicks off the fest’s 20th edition — will be a celebration of the 63-year-old actor. At the historic Boulder Theatre, the proceedings will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a screening of Ezra, a new film directed by Goldwyn that features an all-star cast including Robert De Niro, Bobby Cannavale, Rose Byrne, Rainn Wilson, Vera Farmiga and Goldwyn himself. The movie also made a big splash at the most recent Toronto International Film Festival last September.

Immediately afterward, Goldwyn will be presented with the festival’s highest honor. And then, he and yours truly will sit down for a career retrospective conversation that will be recorded for THR’s Awards Chatter podcast.

BIFF will also honor Laura Linney during this year’s fest. Past honorees of the event include Javier Bardem, F. Murray Abraham, Shirley MacLaine, Martin Sheen, Elliott Gould, William H. Macy, Alan Arkin, Alec Baldwin, Bruce Dern, Lawrence Kasdan, Peter Fonda and Robbie Robertson.

It’s a busy time for Goldwyn. He’s a part of the SAG Award-winning cast of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which is expected to dominate at the Oscars on March 10. On March 14, he will take over the role of the Manhattan district attorney on NBC’s Law & Order, long played by Sam Waterston before his exit earlier this month. And Bleecker Street will release Ezra in select theaters on May 31.
