Andrew Harrison, OAM is a wheelchair rugby player who was born on June 7, 1987.

At the 2012 London Paralympics and the 2016 Rio Paralympics, he earned gold medals.

Andrew became quadriplegic at the age of seventeen after a diving accident in 2004 in which he dove headfirst into a shallow river.

He spent time at Kew’s Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre rehabilitating and receiving physical treatment.

He is a student and works as a Spinchat Coordinator in Bayswater North, Victoria, as of 2021.

He was born on June 7, 1987, in Bayswater North, Victoria.

Bryce Alman, a three-time Paralympian, was the one who originally introduced Andrew Harrison to wheelchair rugby when he was 17 years old.

He would go on to win two Paralympic gold medals in two Paralympic Games, solidifying his place among the game’s top 2.0 players.

Andrew made his international debut with the Steelers in 2007 at the Chris Handy Cup in Invercargill, New Zealand.

But after narrowly losing out on selection for the 2008 Australian Paralympic Team, he had to wait another two years.

One of the reasons he was a part of the “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign, which encouraged people to be cautious when diving, was because of his accident.

Four-wheelers, vehicles, and off-road buggies are among his passions, which he can drive despite his injuries. 

Not long after his accident, he was named to his first Victorian state representative team in 2006.

His Victorian team came in third place in the National Wheelchair Rugby League that year, and he was voted rookie of the year.

In 2009, he was a member of the West Coast Enforcers and was named to the league’s all-star four at the end of the season.
