Joanne Cooke, 36, was first caught with £ 70,000 worth of cocaine and cannabis hidden in the trunk of her car when her Kia was pulled over on the A19 in Crathorne, near Yarm, North Yorkshire.
Her arrest in April 2016 caused an entire drug supply network to collapse, which saw Liverpool-based traffickers make at least 75 trips to Teesside to flood the area with up to £ 1 million worth of cocaine.
Some 14 members have now been sentenced by Judge Paul Watson QC, who called them a ‘plague on society’ at Teeside Crown Court on Thursday.
Arrested
Cooke, from Liverpool, was jailed for four years and eight months for her role as a trusted messenger for the drug gang.
Teesside Crown Court heard that there was a flurry of mobile phone contact between people on both sides of the Pennines in the wake of her arrest.
Members from both sides of the operation received jail terms in a two-day sentencing hearing.

The 53-year-old man helped orchestrate drug shipments from the Northwest to the Northeast on at least 75 occasions.
Sharon Beattie QC, the accuser, said Omar traveled to Liverpool the day after Cooke was arrested.
She added: ‘There was a communication flurry between Omar, Dawrant Jr. and Edward Metcalfe, the next day.
Cooke’s phone was seized and when she did not answer, and obviously did not appear, there were attempts to contact.
“In fact, the next contact she had was her when she called Dawrant Jr. from a landline and the next day Omar went to Liverpool to meet them.”
Judge Paul Watson QC, the Middlesbrough registrar, told the gang that they were a “blight on society” as he condemned them all.
Omar, of Leathorpe Court, Thornaby, was imprisoned for 16 years for his role in trafficking cocaine and cannabis throughout the area after pleading guilty to possession with the intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs.
Another gang member, Christopher Martin, 35, also from Thornaby, was caught trying to flush drugs down the toilet when police raided his home. He was incarcerated for seven years and four months.
The court heard how members of the Merseyside-based gang, who were placed under police surveillance during 2016-2017, had different roles to keep the drug operation running smoothly.
Dennis Dawrant Junior was described as ‘the hub’ and was responsible for organizing more than 70 courier trips to Teesside from Liverpool.
Kingpin Dennis Dawrant Jr. of Liverpool was jailed for 12 years, while his father Dennis Dawrant Snr was sentenced to eight years.
His father, Dawrant Senior, 62, was the “warehouse man” who also kept notes on financial transactions, the court heard.
Meanwhile, Metcalfe, Alan McCaig and Stephen Folan were all couriers believed to be paid around £ 200 per trip.
McCaig and Folan were given five years and four months and seven years and six months respectively. Metcalfe received eight years.
Kingpin Dennis Dawrant Jr. of Liverpool was jailed for 12 years, while his father Dennis Dawrant Snr was sentenced to eight years.
Other gang members also received sentences, including 34-year-old Phillip Oram of Thornaby, who was jailed for 12 months for conspiracy to supply cannabis.
Ryan Stirling, 27, of Billingham, was jailed for five years for his role, while Nathan Moncur, 28, also of Billingham, was jailed for four years and eight months.
Paul Havert, 44, of Stockton, was sentenced to 15 months in prison and his 38-year-old brother, James Havert, was jailed for nine months.
Meanwhile, Masum Ahmed, 47, of Tower Hamlets, London, was jailed for five years.
Speaking after the sentencing, Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Robinson of the Cleveland Police’s Organized Crime, Economic and Cyber Crime Unit, said: ‘Operation Mint was a lengthy and challenging investigation.
“I am very proud of the professionalism and dedication of the team who worked tirelessly to bring to justice those responsible for this large-scale drug supply.”
