Luke Oeltjenbruns Biography
Luke Oeltjenbruns, 61, pleaded guilty to first- and second-degree assault charges for the April incident. In addition to time in prison, he was sentenced to 10 years of probation, ordered to perform community service, attend therapy, and write letters of apology to his victims.
Oeltjenbruns hit the home improvement store worker several times on the head with a piece of wood after the worker refused to see him without a mask. He then fled in his truck and led police in a low-speed chase through the area.
Once detained, Officer Steven Sickmann reached out of the truck window. Oeltjenbruns slammed the window on his arm, trapping him, and hit the policeman on the head with a hammer.
The man’s wife, Robbie Lynn Oeltjenbruns, said during her sentencing that he suffers from depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder from his time in the military.
