Arrested and Charged
Pawel Chmielecki, of Wood Street, Kettering, has been charged with murder after a woman’s body was found at the Wood Street home on Tuesday lunchtime (October 19).
When officers forced entry, Pawel Chmielecki was also found inside the property with serious injuries. He was treated at the hospital and later arrested on Friday (October 22).
Pawel Chmielecki will appear before magistrates in Northampton on Monday 25 October to face his position.
Officers are still calling for anyone who was on Wood Street between 10:30 p.m. to show up. and 11 p.m. on Friday October 15th.
Victim
The victim was named by Northamptonshire Police as Marta Chmielecka, a 31-year-old woman from Kettering.
More devastating details from detectives revealed that Marta may have been dead for days before her body was found.
Neighbors and the community were shocked by the incident in what they say is a “relatively quiet” area.
An online fundraiser has also been organized to help Marta’s family bring her daughter back to Poland so that she can be buried in her county of origin.
Investigation
A murder investigation was launched last Tuesday after police discovered Marta’s body inside the £ 130,000 property on Wood Street.
Police forcibly entered her room where they found her body and a seriously injured 38-year-old man.
Merchant Ganjo Rasull, from the nearby supermarket Raja, told MailOnline: ‘I have known Piotr for four or five years, he used to visit my other store in the round. He was a beer drinker.
Piotr was Marta’s husband. Totally normal person. Marta would never visit the store, but I know that she visited the house on Wood Street frequently.
‘It was a shared house. Piotr had a room in the house. Piotr and Marta got divorced, but recently they saw each other again.
‘On the weekend, when they were drinking, she kept coming home.
The police have taken a car. Once they broke into her room, they found the deceased woman there.

Detective Inspector Pete Long of the felony team, said: ‘Our investigations continue to advance rapidly and we have been talking to a lot of people and gathering a lot of evidence to piece together Marta’s final movements and the circumstances surrounding her death.
‘Specially trained officers continue to support her family and I want to assure you that a great team of detectives is working on this case and that we are doing everything possible to see Marta get justice.
“ Now I want to appeal to everyone who was on Wood Street between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday, October 15, to introduce themselves, as they may have information that could help us.
“ Even if she thinks she didn’t see anything, if she was in the area between now, please contact us. ”
