The widow of a millionaire businessman has been embroiled in a legal dispute after being left out of his will.

Sister
Shah’s son Sajad backed his sister’s version of events, insisting that his father and his stepmother were separated. He said, ‘She was fired in 2012.’
“They broke up in 2012. She had been boiling for a long time and I’d say they were having big problems since 2009,” Assistant Teacher Matthew Marsh told the judge.
Oliver Ingham, for the brothers, told the judge: “She did not live with Mr. Shah in the same house for the two years immediately preceding his death, much less as ‘husband and wife’.
Her relationship was “complicated and variable,” Ingham said, labeling her “on again.”
But Ms. Jassal’s attorney highlighted a series of affectionate and domestic text messages between her and Mr. Shah, saying they demonstrated the length and stability of her relationship.
The texts numbered in the hundreds and were scattered throughout the five years leading up to Mr. Shah’s death, some of them loving and others revealing the ‘mundane’ details of established domestic life.
‘There are times when the claimant complains that the deceased was not doing the dishes, complains that they were eating McDonalds or prepackaged pickles, or the deceased simply asks the claimant to leave the cabbage cooking because he is home in 15 minutes .
But there are so many expressions of love and affection. For example, on his last Valentine’s Day, the deceased sent a text message: “But I still love you, no one can love you like me.”
Ms. Jassal was supported by Mr. Shah for almost 20 years, she added, “she has practically no financial resources” and she is unable to work due to medical complaints.
Given her plight, she now deserves a “very significant inheritance payment,” her attorney said.
Mr. Morrell also questioned the existence of any “secret trust” designed to benefit all of Mr. Shah’s offspring.
The brothers’ attorney said the secret trust had been discussed between Mr. Shah and his children, and was in line with Islamic practice that their son would inherit his father’s fortune but then distribute it fairly among his family.
In the court battle for a just provision, Ms. Jassal is suing Sajad and Shabana Shah, both executors of her father’s will.
The judge has now reserved her ruling in the case to be handed down at a later date.
